Bonfire and Fireworks Night 2017

Well where do we start? We were so overwhelmed by the number of people who came to support our first Bonfire and Fireworks Night on Friday 3rd November! Our aim was to create a fun filled event with lots of extras for all ages to enjoy. We also felt it was the perfect opportunity to support some fantastic local charities and businesses.

Firstly, we had ‘Friends of Northleach Swimming Pool’ on the BBQ and ‘Friends of Bourton Primary School’ selling glowsticks and marshmallows. I don’t think any of the stall holders were quite expecting the amazing turnout but they all dealt with it fantastically! Together they managed to raise over £700! We were so happy to be able to support these local causes and we made sure both charities kept all their profits. If you would like your charity to be involved next year, please get in touch!

We knew that children were a massive part of this event and sometimes they can get a little impatient waiting for the grand finale! So we had our lovely face painters Bethany and Amy down by the bonfire and the Far Peak climbing centre was open all evening with a ‘clip n climb’ offer on the outdoor tower. We also had firepits dotted around for keeping warm and roasting marshmallows!

But it wasn’t all about the children! For the grownups we had the wonderful ‘Jua Kali’ serving artisan coffee, mulled wine and espresso martinis. Jua Kali is a quirky converted Land Rover Defender owned by India Thompson and Ali Carman and we were over the moon to have them involved. Alongside these guys we had our awesome DJ James: farmer by day, DJ by night, he managed to turn the campsite reception into his very own DJ station! Unfortunately we did have a couple of small power outages earlier on in the evening but with a few tweaks and support from the crowd (pantomime style cheering!) we managed to get things sorted quickly and we want to thank you all for being so patient!

Our Hayloft Café superstars Ella and Brooke coped remarkably well with the huge demand on the bar whilst Caitlin and Amber took extremely good care of our V.I P’s up on the roof terrace! The whole evening really was a full Far Peak team effort and we all had such a blast (excuse the pun) organising it and we cannot thank you enough for all your overwhelmingly kind comments and emails! Also a huge thank you to our super volunteers! Bring on Far Peak Bonfire and Fireworks Night 2018!
